Rooted Rebel

This original painting began as a custom piece created for a very special woman who has always loved and collected roosters.

While visiting Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, I photographed this beautiful rooster with her in mind, shown in the second photo. The moment I saw him standing proudly among the massive, twisting tree roots, I knew I wanted to surprise her by recreating the photograph in my own abstract style using acrylic paint and heavy texture.

The original now belongs to the woman who inspired it, but this piece is available as a fine art print or canvas print in sizes ranging from 5 × 7 to 18 × 24 inches.
