The Cord Cutting Ritual

There comes a moment when we realize that every boundary surrounding us is waiting to be challenged.

Some were drawn by others. Some were created by our own doubts, rules and expectations. They told us how far we could go, how loudly we could speak and how much space we were allowed to occupy. But no line becomes permanent simply because it has been there for a long time.

The Cord Cutting Ritual is the moment of decision. The instant we stop negotiating with limitations and remember that we have always possessed the power to sever them.

The tangled lines stretch across the canvas as if trying to contain what refuses to be contained. Yet the bold shapes push forward, unapologetic and impossible to restrain. This is not an escape. It is a declaration. No person, expectation or former version of ourselves has the authority to determine where we end.

We do not wait for the cords to loosen.

We cut them.
