The Hunger within Her

This original artwork was cut from its frame in 2022, but I could never bring myself to throw it away. I knew its story was not finished. Years later, I returned to it, and I am thrilled with what it has become. For reasons I have chosen not to question, I held on to a frayed remnant of the original canvas, as though it still had something left to reveal. Perhaps, somehow, I knew it held something I had not yet learned how to see.

We learn to hide our cracks, disguise our flaws, and carefully place masks over the parts of ourselves that have been broken. We fear that if someone looks closely enough, they may see everything we have worked so hard to conceal.

But sometimes, the most evolved and powerful pieces of who we are lie dormant within those very fractures. Beneath the surface, they wait—restless, growing, and hungry to escape.

The Hunger Within Her represents the moment we begin peeling away the mask and looking into the places we were taught to hide. It is there, within the cracks, that we often discover a strength we never knew we possessed. The breaking was never the end. It was simply where our power had been waiting to emerge.
